It is the village where I still live and is rather important. Many people visit Belgioioso indeed, mostly because of its castle, but not only for that.
The castle of Belgioioso was built in the 14th century and modified in the next centuries. At the present time, the most part of it is split into flats and its interior cannot be seen any longer. Here one more view from the exterior.
In the 18th century a significant part of the castle was transformed into a beautiful building with a big garden. Such a new part is visited by hundreds of people when some exhibition takes place there. Here is a virtual tour.
enter the garden form the main street......
enter the hall......
go to the second floor......
look at the garden from a window......
go back to the garden......
and look around......
till the sunset......
If you drive for some kilometers throughout the country and keep the south-west direction (towards Po, the main Italian river), you reach San Giacomo della Cerreta, just a few houses and a very old church. Such a church is very nice and contains a number of paintings. I got married there, and the same happened for both daughters of mine.
